Geographical situation:

The municipality of Trient is located in the northernmost part of the Mont Blanc massif. Trient is the biggest municipality of the Martigny district (Valais / Switzerland) and serves as a connecting link with the Chamonix valley (France).

The municipality is situated in the high part of the valley watered by the rivers Trient and Eau Noire.

The two main approaches to Trient are the following:

- the international panorama route of the Col de la Forclaz, from Martigny to Chamonix

-           and the Mont-Blanc Express.

The road runs from Martigny to Chamonix through the whole valley as does the Express which follows a completely different, but equally scenic, route (cog railway).
